Update on Baby E's test results.
First, the stool tests showed that Baby E is not able to break down a sugar. What sugar specifically, we don't know yet. The next step is to get another stool sample so they can run more tests to determine exactly what kind of sugar (glucose, galactose, etc.) she is passing.
They may also be doing one more test (possibly a blood test) to look specifically for giardia.
Also, we need to do another barium test to look more specifically at some issues related to the reflux. That will be scheduled soon.
We will be seeing the NP again in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, she gave me a referral to a new pediatric allergist that is supposed to be excellent.

Hooray for more pieces to the puzzle! I hope the new allergist is a good one.
What parodie said!
That is really great that you're learning something new about her condition. Wow - that must feel good. Let's hope that you guys will be able to come to some resolution - and soon.
Like the others, I too, hope for this new allergist is a good one. I'm so glad you're making progress.
Happy New Year, PK!
Glad to hear you are starting to get some answers, or at least headed in the right direction...
Happy new year! Yay for a potentially better allergist and for some useful test results, finally.
Glad to hear things aregetting better! I usually lurk, but...you might remind them that the presence of sugar in the stool of a breastfed baby is normal. In a formula fed baby, it is not.
Thanks, everyone! I did get an appointment in a couple of weeks.
Mia C. I did not know that about sugar and breastfeeding vs. formula. Thank you for commenting, and I'll be sure to ask about that.
