Minor Miracles Needed

Baby E is squarely in the red today, crying whether I hold her or put her down.

Now that she's talking more, it's even more heartbreaking. She will flail around in my arms or roll around on the floor with howls of "Ow, Mommy, ow, ow, ow. Ow. Ohhhhh noooo! Ow. Mommeeee! Ow!" between the sobbing and groaning.

She's calmed down a bit at the moment and is nursing. She passed a BM and it seemed as if that was really painful, despite its being very soft. I'm hoping she'll feel better now that she's had a bath, a fresh diaper, and some milk.

I'm worrying about a couple of things this morning.

#################

First, we've had a rather miserable cold/cough/bronchial infection making its way through the family. I have it full-swing today; it seems likely that Baby E would catch it soon.

Only. If she has a cold she won't be able to undergo several of the tests and procedures scheduled for next week. It has been taking weeks for her to get over the most minor cold lately. Usually she's the first person to catch a cold and by far the last to get over it.

We really need her not to catch this cold. At this point that's praying for a miracle.

Another thing we're needing that seems like it would take almost a miracle: We need to collect 7 or 8 stool samples. They can't all be from the same BM or even the same day. They cannot be contaminated with urine or touch anything besides a clean, dry diaper or container.

This needs to be completed before her barium swallow test if at all possible, since we can't use any results containing barium.

She's been averaging 1 BM a day.

We've already lost two due to urine contamination.

It seems a nearly impossible feat to get that done by Monday.

She just finished nursing and is back to screaming and crying. Catch you later.

I will pray Baby E doesn't catch your family cold! I have done so many of those tests and the stool ones seem to almost be the most difficult to get just because she is still so little and doesn't tell you when she needs to go and you have to try to catch one before she wets. I remember one time when we had this difficult one we had to get for McKenzie when she was still in diapers when we finally got it done the drs office called to let us know that for that particular test it had to be sent to the east coast and even though their records show it was sent and there was a tracking number the company that sends those had lost her sample! That was frustrating! It took forever to get a new sample again and then that was 9/11 and because of everything over there it took forever for them to get the results back. Anyway good luck on the stool samples and the tests. Incidently we have done all of the tests you are talking about with either Izzak or Kenzie if you have any questions feel free to email me.

My4kids, it's rather comforting to know that I'm not the only one who's had trouble with stool sample collection!

We've got two done now, and can't collect two of the others until Monday or later because they have to be back in to the lab within an hour of being collected. The lab isn't open on weekends. :(

We'll probably just end up having to wait for the barium to clear her system before collecting those.

Parodie and PS, thanks.
