She Sleeps!

After being awake much of the night before, Baby E slept a lot yesterday. We kept trying to wake her up. But one of the characteristics of an easygoing, self-soothing baby is that waking her when she wants to sleep is, well, impossible. Even a diaper change with cold wet cloths would only wake her up for about 30 seconds and then she'd drop off again as soon as it was finished.

DH and the girls worked very hard all day long to get her to have as much wake time as possible. When she was awake, she was quite observant and interactive. Baby E sure seemed pretty happy most of the time, whether asleep or awake.

We went to bed fully expecting to end up taking turns being up with an awake baby all night, but except waking to feed every 3 hours or so, she slept great all night. Hooray!

I, on the other hand? I was awake listening to make sure she was breathing.

I think we'll set up the under-mattress "Angel-Care" monitor today.

I hope this is the sign of many, many restful nights ahead.

That monitor sounds like a neat thing -- too bad they didn't have that when the Offspring was small....I crept into her room many a night just to make sure she was still breathing!

There's always such cool baby stuff *after* your child outgrows the need for it. It really bums me! :)

A baby that sleeps for a three hour stretch? Oh, that's a very good sign.

I hope you start getting some sleep soon as well.

Congrats on the new little one. I think the third one is always easy going, they have to be with two older siblings, right? Good luck with everything, I hope she continues sleep well for you.
