Fun and games

Baby E's favorite games:

Peek-a boo. Tonight she was actually lifting her dress up and down in front of her face to play peek-a-boo, rather than just hiding her face in my shoulder as usual.

Tipping her head to the side to catch someone's eye and make them laugh.

Banging or shaking things to make noise.

Sitting up and then letting herself fall down.

Being jiggled, bounced, or turned upside-down.

Playing copycat with facial expressions and noises.

Dropping things or watching them be dropped. She thinks anything falling or banging down (or Daddy pretending to be hit or knocked down) is hilarious. She has a huge belly laugh now, and she'll laugh and laugh.

This isn't really a game, but she loves to stroke or pat us. It was so sweet tonight, watching her sit on the couch next to Daddy and run her hand up and down her arm while staring up into his face. Just melting.

AJ and MM's favorite games:

Making Baby E laugh.

Running around in circles, laughing. Especially if E is watching them and laughing too.

Dancing to music.

Jumping on the bed. (Oops, that's not allowed!)

Playing with their magnetic Disney dolls and the clothes that stick to them.

Reading books.

Stringing beads.

Painting.

Pretending to race horses.

Playing with dolls.

Putting together puzzles.

Adding and subtracting numbers.

Guessing what letters various words begin and end with (MM).

Spelling and unscrambling words (AJ).

Finding words that rhyme.

Cutting paper with safety scissors.

Playing computer or leap pad games.

Playing board or card games such as Go Fish, Candyland, etc.

Good games, busy girls! My Alex still won't laugh, you really have to work on her by tickling her to get a little giggle. Oh well, it will come. Sounds like baby E has the sweetist little personality!

Such sweetness! Muffin Man loves to play most of those games too. Wanna have a playdate?

Sounds like fun. Why can't they jump on the bed, though? That seemed like such a dumb rule growing up that I just let Roo jump to his hearts content as long as it doesn't get out of hand. It's nice for him to get it out of his system, I think. Of course as he gets bigger that might change.

Oooo, my sister still has a scar over her eyebrow as a souvenir of her participation in jumping-on-the-bed games from three decades ago.

Baby E sounds like a much older baby. SO playful at only five months!

Sarah, Baqby E is ticklish in only one place--her ribs. It's so fun to see babies laugh, isn't it?

Liz, we'd love to have a playdate! Whan are you coming over?

Doug, two reasons: it's really bad for the mattress, and it's dangerous. I know too many people who have broken bones or needed stitches from jumping on the bed. Now, if we had an old mattress without a box spring, I would love to lay it on the floor for the kids to jump on.

PS, that's what I keep thinking--she's so bright and playful that surely she must be advanced for her age. But then again, I'm horribly biased.
